Found this blog post sharing how to connect your mac to a 3G internet modem connection on a nokia phone. For n95 users, here’s the link >> to add modem scripts for your phone unless leopard has added in more modem scripts for n95(why i say so is because i installed this before setting up the above). This link provides a download url to install isync drivers for various nokia devices.I am amazed at how fast it is to set this all up. 5 mins if you know what you are doing. =)Now i am holding back my decision to unsubscribe my Unlimited 2.5G data plan to Singtel’s broadband on mobile.

Yes the title says it. http://blog.gravatar.com/2007/10/18/automattic-gravatar/

There is a growing trend of [dot]com companies buying over each other. This news came as a surprise to me but i see it as a great move. Gravatar (short for Globally Recognise Avatar) aims to serve the need for a common profile picture/image(avatars) on the blogosphere.

Its great to hear Automattic starting to move forward to expand and yet improve the WordPress.com service. Kudos to them. But i wonder what it means for non-WordPress people.

I expect more activities from Automattic… Good job Matt

Time to get Gravatar up and running again. Their premium service is now freeee..

This is by far one of my favourite races… Notice how close the boats were…

If you notice 18 rowers against the other boats which are full… The way to go… AC Spirit in action…

Tech Buzzword for the week: Google Gears

The Google folks have again brought web applications to the next level. With Google Gears, web application can still run without an internet connection. Google Gears is essentially a web browser extension (Supports Firefox 1.5+ and Internet Explorer 6.0+and on both Mac OS X and Win XP).

Gears provides three key features:

  • A local server, to cache and serve application resources (HTML, JavaScript, images, etc.) without needing to contact a server
  • A database, to store and access data from within the browser
  • A worker thread pool, to make web applications more responsive by performing expensive operations in the background

It is still under early-access developers’ release status. However Google Reader is already making use of its features. You can download a local copy of your new content and read your feeds offline.

Get yours now. Note: it’s not for the faint hearted…
